Diogo Jota’s debut showing against Arsenal earns plaudits from Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool FC’s new signing Diogo Jota has earned high praise from his coach Jurgen Klopp following the Portuguese international’s debut display for the Reds against Arsenal on Monday.

Jota got his first piece of Premier League action with the Reds when he came off the bench for the last ten minutes at Anfield, replacing Sadio Mane on the pitch. And the former Wolves man performed exceptionally well for his new side, getting his name on the scoresheet for the first time in the Liverpool FC shirt.

His super-sub display against Mikel Arteta’s men was applauded by Jurgen Klopp in the Liverpool FC boss’s post-game interview, while Klopp was speaking to the club’s official website, with the German voicing his admiration for Jota’s quality on and off the ball.

The Reds manager said: “Jota came on, just played natural, his football. [He] tried to defend the way we defend.

“He’s on 20 per cent of information on what we do exactly. We had meetings to talk about but it all will take time and today he had like 60/70 minutes’ time to see how Sadio is doing it, and came on the pitch and did incredibly well.

“He scored a super goal, nice first game at Anfield – he will never forget it, I will never forget it, so cool start!”

Jota will surely be yearning for more goalscoring success to come his way as he seeks to make a lasting impact on the Merseyside outfit since his big-money move to Anfield earlier this summer.
