Galatasaray Sparking Interest In Xherdan Shaqiri

According to the latest reports, European powerhouse Galatasaray is keen on signing Liverpool star winger Xherdan Sahqiri in the winter transfer window.

Having arrived from relegated club Stoke City to Anfield in the summer transfer window, attacking superstar Xherdan Shaqiri could well be the bargain of the season. Liverpool spent only £13 million for the services of Shaqiri while plenty of top clubs in Europe would pay much more in comparison to have Shaqiri’s quality in their squad.

But it’s not quite worked out for Shaqiri at Liverpool so far, not due to his performances, because they have been top notch whenever he dons a Red jersey. However, Klopp has used the Swiss international sparingly, his assists against Red Star Belgrade and Huddersfield Town were followed up by a goal as well against Cardiff City and Shaqiri is making a strong point for his inclusion in the first team.

But with opportunities limited at Anfield, due to the presence of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita and Sadio Mane, Shaqiri could get frustrated with the lack of football until January and may push for a move away from Merseyside in the winter transfer window.

The 27-year-old Shaqiri is too good to not be starting regularly but Turkish club Galatasaray is prepared to bring him to the Turk Telekom Stadium. Galatasaray sits on 2nd spot in the Turkish Super Lig and is in the hunt for the title.

Galatasaray can really push for the Super Lig with a player like Shaqiri in their team and can also offer the star playmaker a pay hike. But Liverpool would be unlikely to let Shaqiri leave on a permanent deal and maybe allow him to go on loan instead. Shaqiri did not travel to Serbia for Liverpool’s defeat against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League this Tuesday.

Shaqiri will be a key player for Liverpool deep in the season as the Merseyside giants look to compete against rivals Manchester City and Chelsea in the league. In my opinion, Jurgen Klopp should do all that he can to keep Shaqiri at Anfield for the season.
