Gini Wijnaldum believed to be keen on securing move to La Liga giants

Recent reports claim that wantaway star midfielder Gini Wijnaldum may have already given his seal of approval concerning a potential move for the Dutchman to FC Barcelona ahead of the 2020-21 season.

The 29-year old has emerged as a prospective candidate for being Ronald Koeman’s first signing of the summer transfer window as the new manager of the Catalan giants. Moreover, with Wijnaldum’s Liverpool FC deal expiring next summer, there is no certainty regarding his future at Anfield.

Despite Jurgen Klopp’s reluctance of giving into speculation suggesting his player is nearing a move to Spain, the Liverpool FC boss is understood to be prioritizing Thiago Alcantara’s signing from Bayern Munich rather than tabling a contract extension for Wijnaldum.

FC Barcelona are mulling over offering a non-negotiable bid worth €20 million to temp the Anfield giants into selling their prized midfield asset. However, it is believed that the La Liga side will not improve upon their opening offer as Wijnaldum’s transfer may be agreed upon a Bosman deal this upcoming January.

A windfall of €20 million coming Liverpool FC’s way will be a massive boost towards the Merseyside club’s hopes of landing Thiago’s signature this summer. The Spanish international’s transfer talks are being held at the moment due to Bayern’s €30 million price-tag.
