Liverpool’s decision to allow midfield star to depart rests upon a key transfer deal

Gini Wijnaldum will be permitted to sign for FC Barcelona upon Thiago Alcantara’s arrival at Liverpool FC, according to the latest reports. The former has become a key target for the Catalan giants following Ronald Koeman becoming the new Blaugrana boss.

However, Thiago’s transfer approach for the Reds’ has not been the easiest of negotiating deals on part of the Premier League champions. Bayern Munich’s insistence on sticking to a €30 million for the Spanish international has been the major source of concern for the Anfield outfit.

On the other hand, FC Barcelona are becoming increasingly keen on making a move for the 29-year old Wijnaldum. Despite the Dutch international’s current deal with Jurgen Klopp’s side expiring next year, the La Liga runners-up are understood to be wanting to bring the ex-Newcastle United man to Nou Camp as early as this summer.

Jurgen Klopp had earlier refused to give any further insights into the escalating speculation surrounding Wijnaldum’s future at Anfield. However, it is believed that the German would not stand in the player’s way of securing a move to Spain upon talks involving Thiago’s transfer reaching a positive conclusion.
