Jamie Carragher Labels PSG Stars Embarrassing

Former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher has blasted the Paris Saint Germain players and labeled them embarrassing during their Champions League encounter against Liverpool at the Parc Des Princes.

Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain emerged victorious in a 2-1 win over Premier League side Liverpool on Wednesday night as they moved to 2nd place in Group F of the Champions League. The Parisians opened the scoring through left-back Juan Bernat and Brazilian talisman Neymar doubled the advantage for the home side. James Milner’s penalty halved the deficit just before the half-time whistle but PSG held on to their lead and strengthened their chances of progressing through to the next round.

But during the game, there were many halts and stoppages mainly because the PSG players were laying on the ground and rolling about after going in for their tackles. Neymar, Thiago Silva, Angel Di Maria, and even Kylian Mbappe were accused of play acting and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was not too happy about it.

When speaking to Viasport, the 40-year-old Englishman stated that the PSG players should be embarrassed by themselves for trying to cheat and create situations, “It was very frustrating. I think with Neymar it was even in the first half, we’re talking about one of the best players in the world, but watching him tonight was embarrassing. Even Thiago Silva, the captain, the center back, rolling around in the corner near the end holding his face. This is a great team with some great players, they don’t need to resort to these tactics, and they should let the football do the talking. You’re frustrated as a Liverpool supporter but as a football fan, people watching all around the world they should be embarrassed.”

Carragher went on to compare this behavior with kindergarten children, “I don’t know how they go back and speak to their families and wives in the players’ lounge. You know rolling around on the floor like that, the only time you see that is children at kindergarten.”

Neymar, Mbappe and Di Maria have all been in the limelight for play acting before and this must be looked into because these players are trying to force a situation from a referee. The gamesmanship and sporting nature of football is completely taken out of the equation and Carragher is spot on.
