Jordan Henderson applauds Liverpool’s teenage talent Harvey Elliott

Liverpool’s up and coming teenage sensation Harvey Elliott has earned some well-deserved praise from his skipper Jordan Henderson who has credited the youngster following his full league debut.

Elliott was handed a surprise start in Premier League action over the past weekend when Liverpool played hosts to Burnley at Anfield and the 18-year-old put out a spirited showing in the centre of the park.

Jurgen Klopp had used Elliott in a rather unusual position for the player in the midfield department and Elliott was drafted alongside the likes of Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita on Saturday in the same role.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Henderson who himself made a return to competitive club football this weekend for the first time since February, spoke highly of Elliott’s talents and labelled him a ‘special player’.

“Harvey’s a special player.”

“He’s been fantastic last season when he was on loan at Blackburn and then he’s come back in great shape for pre-season and done really well, so he deserved his start today and I thought he took it.

“I thought he was outstanding, his work rate, but also obviously the stuff he can do on the ball, the final passes. Overall I thought he was outstanding.”

Elliott had been on top of his game during his stint away from Anfield last season at Blackburn Rovers in the Championship where he enjoyed a superb output on the attacking front with seven goals and 11 assists.
