Jota returns to first-team training, Van Dijk continues individual work

Two key first-team regulars in the Liverpool FC camp stepped up their respective returns to the fold as Diogo Jota and Virgil van Dijk were seen partaking in training sessions on Wednesday.

Reports from the club’s official website confirm that Jota made a much-hyped return to full team training ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s under-fire outfit facing Sheffield United on the road later this week.

Meanwhile, season-long injury absentee Virgil van Dijk was seen continuing his rehabilitation programme by being involved in individual outdoor drills, with speculation lingering over the Holland international being fit in time to feature for the Merseysiders over the remainder of this season.

Jota’s return provides Klopp with much-needed firepower on the attacking front, especially in light of recent showings by Liverpool FC being censured on account of shallow displays while going forward.

The Portuguese attacker had been in fine form since he signed for the Reds last summer from Wolves and was a menace to deal with in front of the goal before a knee injury forced him to miss action in the Liverpool FC colours for the last two months.
