Jurgen Klopp plans to sell as many as seven Liverpool FC players this summer

Recent reports suggest that Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp may be planning a clear-out at the Merseyside club. Seven members of the Reds’ squad, four of whom are currently serving loan spells elsewhere, are being considered to be sold by the Premier League champions.

Jurgen Klopp wants to free up space in his squad as well as raise significant funds to finance future signings this summer. Even though the Reds are not expected to make any high-profile acquisitions this summer, the club will surely look to sign two or three players to bolster the squad depth present at Liverpool FC.

Leading the line to Anfield’ exit door seems to be Belgian striker Divock Origi. The 25-year old, regarded as a cult hero among the Reds’ fanbase, has struggled for game time this season. Very few playing opportunities have come the Belgian’s way during the course of Liverpool FC’s league-title winning campaign.

However, the most certain possibility of a first-team player leaving the Reds this summer is of Xherdan Shaqiri. The Swiss international has made just six league outings for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season. With no guarantee that the 28-year old would get more minutes on the pitch in the coming season, Shaqiri may opt to depart the Merseyside club shortly.

Liverpool FC outcast Loris Karius, returning from a cut-short loan spell at Besiktas, is very likely to be sold by Klopp. The presence of Adrian at the club to serve as Alisson’s backup means that there is no requirement for Karius. Ligue 1 side Montpellier were rumoured to be in the market for the German goalkeeper, according to reports from France.

Welshman Harry Wilson, who spent the 2019-20 season on loan at Bournemouth, could also be on his way out. The 23-year old is doubtful to make Liverpool FC’s first-team squad next season as well. As a result, Klopp could look to find another club willing to take the winger on a season-long loan. Leeds United had expressed interest in signing the Reds loanee.

Another long-term Liverpool FC loanee Marko Grujic’s spell at the Merseyside club could be coming to an end. The Serbian midfielder has spent the previous two seasons on loan at German club Hertha Berlin. And it seems that the Bundesliga outfit are now willing to sanction a permanent transfer for Grujic with a fee of €14 million being rumoured to be tabled by the club.

Two Liverpool FC academy graduates, playmaker Ben Woodburn and left-back Yasser Larouci could be shipped out for loan spells by Klopp this summer.
