Injury Update

Jurgen Klopp voices positive update on injury front for Henderson, Mane and Robertson

Jurgen Klopp voiced a positive update on the injury front for Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson ahead of the weekend tie against Arsenal.

The first-team trio had their fitness levels subject to much concern in the build-up to Saturday’s Anfield showdown for Liverpool after being involved in the international break for their respective countries.

Mane suffered a blow to the ribs which had him withdrawn from Senegal’s game against Togo while the skipper Jordan Henderson returned to the Liverpool fold early with fears over tightness in his groin.

Full-back Andy Robertson underwent scans for a potential hamstring issue following Scotland’s win over Denmark in the World Cup qualifiers which came as a major concern for the Anfield camp who have to deal with an ever-increasing injury list.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Jurgen Klopp eased the uncertainty surrounding his side’s selection pool with Henderson, Mane and Robertson deemed fit for the upcoming game despite the Liverpool boss hinting Henderson was on course to his full recovery.

“Robbo was lucky, we can probably say. It was a little bit DOMS, the intensity of all the games he played probably, rather than anything else.”

“He was smart enough to [make] the right decision, he went off early, which he usually is not doing. But in this case it was absolutely right, and so there’s a good chance that he can be involved at the weekend.

“Hendo, a little bit more [injured] than Robbo but a chance for the weekend. So we are working on that. It’s not a serious injury but in this short period of time we have to see if he is ready for Saturday. But after that, 100 per cent, and possibly for Arsenal as well.

“Sadio is fine – painful but fine. Everybody who had a rib bruise knows it’s an annoying thing. But Sad trained here with us now in all sessions.

“We took him out a little bit earlier here and there when we knew now it will be full contact, stuff like this, just to give it a bit more time to settle. But he looks fine.”
