Liverpool add West Ham United star Declan Rice to their shortlist

Liverpool have added West Ham United star Declan Rice to their shortlist of candidates for the summer transfer window to bolster the engine room.

The Reds have decided not to pursue the Borussia Dortmund starlet Jude Bellingham, a name which was linked with a move to Anfield since the turn of the year after the top officials held talks with Jurgen Klopp over his transfer plans for the summer.

According to a report from The Daily Express, it is claimed that the Merseysiders have identified the England international Declan Rice as a viable target with the West Ham skipper likely to seek a move elsewhere later this year.

Rice’s current terms at the London Stadium are set to expire in 2024 and there is the expectation that West Ham will reluctantly accept offers for him this summer rather than lose him for free in 14 months’ time.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea will provide competition to Liverpool for signing Rice – one of the most consistent performers in the English top flight which would prompt his suitors to fork out a big fee for the midfielder’s services.
