Liverpool confirm Ben Davies has joined Sheffield United on loan

Ben Davies has joined Championship outfit Sheffield United in a season-long loan deal, confirmed Liverpool through an announcement on the club’s official website.

Davies had signed for Jurgen Klopp’s side earlier this year during the January transfer window but had failed to make a single outing for the Merseysiders in competitive football since his move.

Liverpool were tipped to ship out the former Preston North End defender this summer on the back of Klopp bolstering his options at the back by bringing in Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig.

Konate’s arrival on Merseyside gives Liverpool some much-needed cover in the centre-back role after last season’s injury crisis but the Frenchman’s signing also meant the end of the road for Davies who was yet to cement his first-team berth at Anfield.

The 26-year-old Davies did manage two outings for Klopp’s men in the pre-season fixture list but will now be joining The Blades who are eying an immediate return back to the Premier League after their relegation last time around.
