Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate facing a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate is reportedly facing a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury adding to the woes of his manager Jurgen Klopp.

The France international centre-back is expected to be ruled out for at least a fortnight after he picked up a hamstring issue during the FA Cup fourth-round defeat away at Brighton on Sunday.

According to a report from The Liverpool Echo, it is claimed that Konate would be in line to sit out Liverpool’s trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers in top flight action on Saturday and the Merseyside derby at home to Everton.

The promising defensive talent could also be in danger of being sidelined for the high-billed Champions League round of 16 first-leg clash on home soil against the defending champions Real Madrid who had defeated the Reds last year in the final.

Konate has started only nine of Liverpool’s 31 games this term with the Frenchman suffering a knee injury during the pre-season game against Strasbourg with his return later in 2022 proving Jurgen Klopp with the perfect cover for the injured Virgil van Dijk.
