Liverpool great Steve McManaman backs Erling Haaland for Anfield move

Liverpool great Steve McManaman has backed Erling Haaland for Anfield move with the Dortmund striker a rumoured target for Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds boss has his priority set in bolstering his attacking ranks in the forthcoming transfer windows with Klopp’s forward lineup lacking serious power barring the likes of Salah, Mane and Firmino.

Dortmund talisman Erling Haaland is reportedly a top name on the shopping list for Klopp on Merseyside and with the Norweigian available for a cut-price fee next summer, speculation remains rife over his future in the Bundesliga.

Haaland will be free to seal a move elsewhere in the summer of 2022 for a £64 million price tag and Liverpool are joined by the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid in keeping close tabs on his situation at the Signal Iduna Park.

Speaking to HorseRacing.net, former Liverpool and Real Madrid man McManaman has urged Jurgen Klopp to make a swoop for Halaand’s signature considering his well-documented exploits in Germany’s top flight for Dortmund.

“If Liverpool have the money then they’re better off going for Haaland because he’s already proven and it will be worth it in the long run.

“Some young players play well over a short period and then all of a sudden they’re worth £50m, when their true value is £15m. It’s the selling club trying to make as much as possible out of a player.”
