Liverpool keen on Inter’s Lautaro Martinez as replacement for Roberto Firmino

Liverpool are said to be keen on Inter’s Lautaro Martinez as a replacement for Roberto Firmino whose future at Anfield is subject to increasing speculation.

Firmino has been linked with a move to Juventus this summer with the Brazilian forward emerging as a top target for the Turin-based outfit who are in the market for a new striker to add to their forward options.

According to a report from 90min, Argentina international Martinez is Liverpool’s choice to take over from Firmino should the latter call it quits at Anfield before the transfer window comes to a close.

Martinez has served as the attacking mainstay for Inter Milan following Romelu Lukaku’s exit to sign for Chelsea last summer with Martinez netting an impressive tally of 21 goals in 35 league outings across the 2021-22 campaign.

Lukaku’s return to San Siro, ahead of the start of the new season, means a reunion with his former strike partner Martinez which could be the missing piece of the puzzle for Inter to reclaim the top flight crown from local rivals AC Milan.
