Liverpool open talks with Brighton over signing Yves Bissouma

Brighton have been approached by Liverpool who have launched an enquiry into signing a longstanding transfer target for this summer in central midfield man Yves Bissouma.

Reports from The Express claim that Jurgen Klopp is keen on making a move for the 24-year-old Mali international with Liverpool in need of midfield reinforcements before the transfer window’s deadline later this month.

A £40 million price-tag slapped on the midfielder by Brighton is unlikely to deter Liverpool from extending a formal offer but the Merseysiders are in line to face competition from the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal on the transfer front.

Gini Wijnaldum’s exit earlier this summer has left Klopp one influential man short in the centre of the park which has upped the pressure on the Liverpool boss to bring in a fresh face and bolster his ranks with the Anfield giants being minor players once again in the transfer market.

Ibrahima Konate’s big-money move from RB Leipzig remains the only business done so far this summer by Liverpool while rival clubs in the Premier League have spent big on new signings.
