Liverpool plotting a surprise swoop for Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane

Liverpool are reportedly planning to make a move for Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane in the upcoming transfer window, according to Football Insider.

Sane, who joined Bayern from Manchester City for £45 million in 2020, initially faced challenges in the Bundesliga due to a knee injury.

However, he has had an impressive start to the current season, scoring six goals in seven league appearances. As a result of his recent performances, Liverpool have shown interest in acquiring him.

The Reds have identified the German as a top candidate to potentially replace Mohamed Salah, who has been the subject of numerous transfer rumours lately.

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly a great admirer of the 27-year-old, and the club may pursue him in the upcoming transfer window. Nevertheless, Bayern are eager to retain their star player and is open to discussions to secure him on a long-term contract.

Salah is a vital figure for the Merseyside club, and his departure would be a significant loss for Klopp’s team.

However, it would be difficult to reject a formal offer from Al-Ittihad, who have shown the most interest in acquiring his services, especially if the proposal is close to £200 million, particularly considering that Salah is approaching the age of 32 next year.

The Saudi Arabian club had a previous £150 million offer for Mohamed Salah rejected by Liverpool. They may return with a higher bid in the next year.

Sane, valued at approximately £56 million by Transfermarkt, would be a great signing for Liverpool as a potential replacement for Salah if they succeed in luring the German international to Anfield.

However, Bayern are expected to be very determined to retain their star player. It will be a considerable challenge for Liverpool to convince Thomas Tuchel’s side to part with their winger should they make a formal approach.
