Serie A heavyweights Juventus have turned down a club-record bid worth £86 million coming in from Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool who had been keeping tabs on Federico Chiesa this summer.
Chiesa enjoyed a star turn at the recently concluded UEFA European Championships with Roberto Mancini’s Italians who ran out deserved winners in the end with a victory over England in the final.
With interest in the Juventus wide player rampant across Europe’s top clubs, reports from The Express claim that Liverpool reached out to the Italian outfit with a big-money offer of £86 million, a club-record transfer fee for the Merseysiders should the clubs had come to an agreement.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with a host of forward players in the transfer market amid speculation that Klopp was on the hunt for attacking reinforcements at Anfield in light of Harry Wilson’s imminent exit and uncertainty growing over Xherdan Shaqiri’s future.
Wilson is set to sign for Championship side Fulham who have long been after the in-demand Wales international after Liverpool made it clear that they were keen on shipping him out this summer on a permanent basis.
