Liverpool FC loanee Loris Karius has showered praise on Jurgen Klopp’s coaching style and man-management routine, with the German shot-stopper labelling the Reds boss to be one of the best managers in world football.
Speaking to Bild, the 27-year old Karius expressed his admiration for the ex-Mainz and Borussia Dortmund head coach’s honesty in dealing with his players, something that had been recently spoken about by former Liverpool FC midfielder Adam Lallana as well.
“It was always fair and honest, he always tells you what the situation is like.”
“We always had a good relationship and never had a problem. His success speaks for itself, he is currently one of the best coaches in the world.”
Karius signed for the Reds in 2016 and soon replaced Belgian international Simon Mignolet as the club’s No.1 for the majority of the 2018-19 season, one which saw Klopp’s men reach the finals of the UEFA Champions League, only to suffer a heartbreaking loss to Real Madrid.
The 3-1 defeat in Kyiv was perhaps Karius’ doomsday as a first-team player for Liverpool FC due to his shambolic showing between the sticks against Zinedine Zidane’s side. He was responsible for gifting the Los Blancos two goals that fateful night which sealed the game in Real Madrid’s favour.
When questioned upon the same, Karius said, “That was two years ago.”
“I have played over 60 games since then. I came here to perform well. Of course, I was away from Germany for a long time but that doesn’t really matter now. The only ones who want to talk about [his mistakes] are the journalists.”
The recently concluded summer transfer window saw the 27-year old goalkeeper sign for Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin on a season-long loan for the 2020-21 campaign.
