Luis Diaz travels back to Merseyside after fresh injury setback

Luis Diaz has reportedly travelled back to Merseyside after a fresh injury setback during the ongoing training camp in Dubai for Liverpool.

Diaz had picked up a knee injury during the first half of the 3-2 Premier League defeat at Arsenal in October. His recovery from the same led to his inclusion in the Liverpool camp for the season training camp in Dubai.

According to a report from The Liverpool Echo, however, it is claimed that the Columbian international winger will be returning to Merseyside for tests to assess the extent of his latest injury niggle ahead of the New Year.

A potentially extended spell on the sidelines for Diaz would add to Jurgen Klopp’s woes with the Liverpool manager unable to call upon the services of Diogo Jota who is expected to be available for selection only in February next year.

In the absence of both Diaz and Jota, Klopp has been forced to draft his strikers Roberto Firmino and Darwin Nunez in the left wing role to little success with the forward pairing more suited to feature centrally in the front line.
