Injury Update

New reports claim that Van Dijk could return to the pitch as early as February

Liverpool FC’s rising troubles on the injury front could finally take a turn for the best with Virgil van Dijk’s return to the first-team fold expected to be hastened by next month.

The Dutch international central defender had been sidelined with a potential season-ending ACL injury in the mid-October Merseyside derby last year, with Van Dijk being on the receiving end of a rather harsh challenge from Everton No.1 Jordan Pickford early on in the game held at Goodison Park.

Jurgen Klopp was dealt a massive blow following Van Dijk’s long-term injury and despite the opening of the January transfer window, the Reds gaffer has been persistent on sticking to his standing of not splashing the cash on additional reinforcements.

Reports from the Express, however, claim that Klopp would be enticed to stick to his guns over not using the transfer market to sign a new centre-half as Van Dijk is tipped to make a return towards featuring in the Liverpool FC colours as early as February.

The last few weeks have witnessed the 29-year-old defensive colossal being quite active in his rehabilitation programme on working his way to full fitness with more than half a season still left to play for the Champions of England to retain their top-flight crown.
