Liverpool FC has embarked upon one of the most record-breaking seasons in Premier League history this season after ending the 30-year drought of league titles at Anfield.
Mohammed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane have continued to establish themselves as the best-attacking trio in world football whilst Jordan Henderson and Virgil van Dijk have commanded Liverpool’s defense and midfield under the leadership of Jurgen Klopp.
Here we will go through the full list of records that Klopp’s men have broken so far in Premier League 19-20
#1 Most successive home wins
Liverpool beat Manchester City’s record of 20 successive home wins with a 3-2 win against West Ham United in February – making it 21 wins at home from the current campaign. 4
On top of this, the Reds have not been beaten at home since April 23, 2017 – over 1174 days ago.
After Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Burnley at the weekend, however, they can no longer set the record for the most home points in a single season – currently held by Manchester United (2005-06) and Manchester City (2011-12) who each picked up 55 points, and the Reds can no longer become the first Premier League side to win all 19 home games in a single season.
#2 Biggest lead at the top of the Premier League table
Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Norwich City in February moved them 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League table – the biggest lead in the competition’s history.
The Reds beat Manchester City 3-1 at home in November and Leicester City 4-0 in December to keep any competition for the title under control, whilst late wins against Crystal Palace, Wolves, and Aston Villa allowed Liverpool to extend the gap between them and City throughout the campaign.
By match week 30, the club had won the league with a record number of games to spare (8) and had defeated every team at least once for the first time in the club’s 127-year long history.
#3 Most points gained from the first 21 games in any of Europe’s ‘Big Five’ leagues
When Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur on January 11, they set a new record for the number of points gained from the first 21 games in any of Europe’s ‘Big Five’ leagues (61)
Manchester City broke the record for the first time in 7 years during the 2017-18 season with 59 points – just one point more than Barcelona between 2011-12
#4 Most points gained from a 38-match spell in the Premier League
The same win over Spurs also set the record for the most points gained from a 38-match spell in the Premier League (104) – surpassing 102 point stretches from Chelsea and Manchester City.
By the end of the season, Liverpool could also break the total points record (100) which is held by Manchester City if they win all of their remaining games. If they do so, they will also break the record for the number of victories from a single Premier League campaign (32) which is also held by Manchester City, and the largest margin of victory in a Premier League season (19).
Update – The fans expected Liverpool to cross the 100 point barrier- the benchmark for every Premier League side. But this drop off has cost them a chance to rewrite history by breaking the Premier League points record, but can still amass 6 points to take their tally to 99, just a point short of Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering Manchester City’s record of 100 points.
A number of individuals from the squad have also been able to re-write the record books this season – Mohammed Salah became the first Liverpool player to score 20 goals in three consecutive seasons since Michael Owen in 2002, and Trent Alexander-Arnold has levelled the number of assists from a defender in the top flight which he set himself last season.
Despite the club’s recent success, however. Jurgen Klopp insists that his side must not focus on breaking records. After a comfortable 2-0 win against Aston Villa the other week, Klopp spoke about the team’s mentality going into the last few games of the season.
“We didn’t come here and have the numbers we have because we thought about breaking records. We were always focused 100 per cent on the game and that will not change,” he said.
“Hopefully in the future, when the record ends or the season ends, I can start thinking about it.”
#5 Earliest title win
With Manchester City suffering a 2-1 loss on their visit to Chelsea on 26th June, Liverpool FC were crowned the 2019-20 Premier League champions with seven games to spare. This marked the creation of a new record in the Premier League era, breaking the previous record set by Manchester United and Manchester City in 2000-01 and 2017-18 respectively.
Both the Manchester-based clubs had clinched the league title with five games still to play in the fixture list.
#6 Fastest side in Premier League history to record 30 wins in the league campaign
Liverpool FC’s 3-1 victory over Brighton at the Amex Stadium on 8th July meant that Jurgen Klopp’s side accomplished their 30th victory of the season. The Merseyside giants achieved that mark in a span of 34 games, thus setting a new record in the process.

#7 Most victories in a Premier League campaign ( Equalling the current record set by Manchester City )
Ending their spectacular league title-winning campaign away from home with a 3-1 victory at Newcastle United, Liverpool FC notched up their 32nd victory of the season. This meant that the Reds equalled the record set by Manchester City back in 2017-18 and in 2018-19.
In the process, however, the Merseyside Reds created a new club record of 32 wins in a single league campaign, bettering the club’s previous record of 30 wins in the 42-game season back in 1978-79.
Following their Champions League glory last season, Liverpool FC further got their hands on the UEFA Super Cup this season in a thrilling encounter against Chelsea last August. Furthermore, in December of 2019, Jurgen Klopp’s side clinched the FIFA Club World Cup held in Qatar, becoming the first English side in history to claim an International treble.
