Shaqiri : I’m very happy at Liverpool

Xherdan Shaqiri moved to Liverpool in a 13.5 million deal from Stoke. He has had a lot of highs and lows in his career so far.

He was a serial trophy winner at Bayern but was mostly warming the bench. He moved to Inter in search of more playing time and then Stoke. He found game time in abundance but couldn’t live up to his potential.

Shaqiri must’ve been satisfied after landing in Liverpool, because he didn’t do much for Stoke last season. A move to Liverpool was an upgrade in his career but it was at a cost. He is the back up for Salah and will only start against the minnows.

Despite the fact that he is a squad player and not a first team player, Shaqiri seems pretty content. He showed that he can fit in Klopp’s plans when he came on against West Ham and Leicester. He also mentioned in his latest interview that he is very happy working under Klopp and he sees himself reaching new heights.

He also appreciated the atmosphere that Klopp brings with him. “He’s a very good coach, but for me the character he has is also important. He has a very nice character, you can joke with him, but of course you have to be focused on the pitch and give everything,” is what Shaqiri had to say in his interview with the official Liverpool magazine.

It’s a great sign for Liverpool that bench players are also happy and see themself working up the ladder.
