Steven Gerrard delighted by Jurgen Klopp signing Liverpool extension

Anfield icon Steven Gerrard is delighted by Jurgen Klopp signing a two-year extension at Liverpool which sees him stay put until the summer of 2026.

Klopp put pen to paper on the new deal earlier this week with Liverpool convincing the German coach to extend his stint on Merseyside for two more years despite speculation linking him with other jobs in world football.

The recent developments have gone down well with the ex-Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard, currently in charge of Aston Villa, who in a recent presser admitted that Klopp committing his long-term future to the club was great news for the Reds fanbase.

“I think you can tell by the smile.

“Listen, Liverpool fans worldwide are delighted with the news. Congratulations to Jurgen and his staff. I think it will be Liverpool’s most important signing for many years to come, that’s how highly we all think of him. It’s terrific news for Liverpool football club.

“He certainly deserves it, for the way he’s performed from a personal point of view. I think the fans have been craving that signing for some time. He’s built a world-class team and I think they’re on the cusp of something really special.

“We can have an influence in that, so that will be interesting when they come to Villa Park. We wish them well outside of that fixture and I think it’s totally deserved and it’s fantastic news, the most important signing for a very long time at the club.”

Liverpool are gunning for glory on all fronts with the Merseysiders still in the mix for the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup trophies after clinching the Carabao Cup.

Jordan Henderson and Co. go up next against a high-flying Newcastle United side that has won four games on the trot and moved into the top half of the league standings.
