Injury Update

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota deemed fit for Watford clash

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed a major boost on the injury front ahead of his side facing Watford away from home this weekend in the Premier League in his pre-match presser.

Full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and wide player Diogo Jota were deemed fit for selection, according to Klopp, with both players set to return to team training in the build-up to the Vicarage Road showdown.

Thiago Alcantara, however, will still be on the sidelines, confirmed the Reds manager, with the Spain international midfielder due for a return to the pitch soon but not in time for the upcoming game against the league’s new boys.

“They are all good, they are all in a good way, let me say it like this.

“So it looks really like Trent and Diogo will be fine, they will train with us tomorrow completely normal, that’s the plan.

“Thiago needs probably a little bit longer, [he] was not in team training yet – that’s always not a good sign for starting the next game.

“And the rest [of the] international [players], some are back, obviously some are not back yet. And we will see.”

Arnold’s absence at the back for Liverpool prior to the international break had meant a setback with the 22-year-old key to the club’s fortunes on both the attacking and defensive fronts.

James Milner had filled in for Arnold in the high-billed affair against the defending champions Manchester City but the veteran Englishman had often struggled when facing Phil Foden out on the flank.
