European giants Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid could join the fray for Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson whose future at Anfield is subject to much speculation owing to talks over his contract extension.
Henderson had been tipped to sign a long-term deal on Merseyside this summer, one which would commit his stay for the foreseeable future in the Liverpool shirt, but it is understood that the club are in line to confirm other deals prior to Henderson’s agreement.
First-team stars Alisson Becker and Fabinho are heavily backed to pen extended terms with Jurgen Klopp’s side and the Brazillian pairing will be joined by the likes of Mohammad Salah and defensive colossus Virgil van Dijk, meaning Henderson is far down the pecking order to be offered a new deal by the Merseyside Reds.
Reports from The Athletic claim that the growing uncertainty over Henderson’s contract talks could lure the 31-year-old England international with a move away from Anfield with PSG and Atletico in the mix for his signature.
The Liverpool skipper and midfield general has two years remaining on his current deal with Liverpool and has been previously backed to sign an extension which would see his playing career conclude at Anfield.
