Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted that just because players are available does not mean that the club will look to sign them up in the summer transfer window.
The German managed led Liverpool to an incredible season last term when they managed to bring back the Champions League to Anfield for the sixth time in the clubs illustrious history. However, despite achieving the best points tally ever since the club was formed, the Reds could not topple Manchester City as Pep Guardiola’s team managed to pip the title by just one solitary point.
Plenty of fans expected that Liverpool would make some big waves in the transfer window to bolster their squad and add further depth to their team if they would challenge Manchester City on all fronts once again in the upcoming season. But the Merseyside giants have not lured in any big names in fact just two youth players and one back up goalkeeper.
Harvey Elliott and Sepp Van Den Berg were the two youngsters that Liverpool signed up and shot-stopper Adrian joined the club on a free transfer. The 52-year-old Liverpool manager was then asked about whether the club will make any big signings but replied by saying that the Reds will look to be as economical as possible.
Klopp was asked whether Coutinho was offered a way back into the club and he explained, “We don’t make big comments on these things “It’s the same answer that it is not very likely for us to do something. I think Everton are busier. Our window was about checking options, thinking about it and making decisions. This is how we do it, always. If nothing happens then it was not the right option for us. We won’t make signings just to sign somebody, that’s it.”
