Youri Tielemans is a better fit for Liverpool than Brighton star regular Yves Bissouma, according to former England internatioanl goalkeeper Paul Robinson.
Tielemans, the ever-present man in midfield for Leicester City, has his name being linked with a move to Anfield since this summer’s transfer window with speculation rife over his future at the King Power Stadium.
The Belgium international is yet to agree on a long-term deal with Brendan Rodger’s side which has added to the talk of Liverpool positioning themselves as the prime candidates to land his signature on the cheap.
Speaking to Football Insider, Robinson claimed that Tielemans could prove to be a better piece of transfer business for Jurgen Klopp’s camp despite Bissouma’s talents in the centre of the park, the latter also eyed up by the Reds following his breakthrough in the Brighton ranks.
Robinson voiced uncertainty over Liverpool dipping into the transfer market as early as January to bring in a fresh face for their midfield with Jurgen Klopp deciding against doing the same during this summer over pricing concerns.
“I think Tielemans would be a better option for Liverpool than Bissouma.”
“Does Bissouma fit the bill for Klopp? I’m not so sure.
“They haven’t got a lot of money to spend, we saw that in the transfer window just gone.
“Wijnaldum played such a big part for them last season so naturally he will be missed.
“They are light in that area now so I do expect them to bring in another body in that position whether it be in January or next summer. It will be interesting to to see if Liverpool make moves in January.”
