Alisson Becker pens a new long-term deal with Liverpool

Liverpool’s first-choice figure between the sticks Alisson Becker has put pen to paper on a new long-term deal at Anfield with the Brazilian international becoming the latest Liverpool first-team star to commit his long-term future towards the club.

Alisson follows Trent Alexander-Arnold and his compatriot Fabinho in penning new deals on Merseyside this summer with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp understood to be keen on ensuring his first-team regular names are handed extended terms before the new campaign gets underway.

The former Roma shot-stopper has been a hugely influential figure between the posts for Liverpool since his move to Anfield from Italy in the summer window of 2018 as Klopp forked out a then world-record transfer fee for signing a goalkeeper.

Much speculation had been rife in recent weeks that the 28-year-old Alisson will be next in line to sign a long-term contract with the Merseyside giants and the player has done so now, confirmed reports from the club’s official website.

Liverpool do have a major issue to solve on the contract front this summer with skipper Jordan Henderson’s future now up for debate following no breakthrough in the deadlock that has affected his extension terms at Anfield.
