In-demand star poised to leave Liverpool in the weeks to come

Recent reports indicate the increasingly likely scenario of Gini Wijnaldum sealing a £15 million worth transfer to FC Barcelona within the coming weeks.

The midfielder, who is currently away on international duty with the Holland national team squad, has emerged as Ronald Koeman’s primary target this summer following his appointment as the boss of the Catalan giants.

Liverpool FC have been understood to be open to selling the 29-year old Wijnaldum ahead of next season despite a certain section of the club’s fanbase being concerned with such a decision. However, with the player’s deal expiring next summer, Jurgen Klopp does not want to lose out on his key midfield option for free.

Moreover, with the Premier League holders being on Thiago Alcantara’s trail, pocketing a reported £15 million fee on Wijnaldum’s sale would help the Merseyside giants a long way in finalizing their approach for the in-demand Bayern Munich star.

The Bundesliga champions are insisting on being paid their initial demand of a £27 million worth asking price for the Spanish international amid interest from Liverpool FC’s arch-rivals Manchester United as well.
