Liverpool could offer striker Roberto Firmino a short-term contract

Liverpool could offer striker Roberto Firmino a short-term contract with the experienced Brazilian out of contract at Anfield next summer.

Firmino has proven to be a valuable figure in the final third of the pitch this season for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp who has been unable to call upon the services of the injured duo Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz.

Klopp, however, has remained coy over Firmino’s long-term future in the Liverpool shirt with clubs from abroad eyeing up a move for the 31-year-old forward with his terms on Merseyside due to expire at the end of the season.

According to a report from UOL Sport, it is claimed that the Anfield camp could table a short-term deal for the Brazil international frontman which will see him tied down to the club for one or two more years.

Firmino, meanwhile, would be hoping for a swift return from his recent calf injury which sidelined him from the midweek’s Carabao Cup defeat to Manchester City and is expected to rule him out from selection on Boxing Day’s visit to Aston Villa.
